Oak Class – 28/9/2020

This week in Oak Class we will be continuing our look at Vikings with some individual research. We will also be looking at the Gods the Vikings believed in.

In English we will continue to look at basic word types (nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs and prespositions). Our writing will focus in instruction writing and we will be finding out the features of instruction text.

In Maths we will be looking at the 6 and 3 times tables, identifying patterns and relationships. We will also be using larger numbers : the Year 6 children will be looking at addition and subtraction.

We will continue to plan our project to make a dragon/ dragon’s head move. Art will be based on Viking ship pictures using collage.

Science will focus on the types of teeth we have, how we look after our teeth and what different teeth tell us about different creatures.

PE will continue to be focused on football skills. PE sessions are on Wednesday and Friday this term.

Reading books should be brought home each day and the children have the responsibility to ensure that happens.

For this term spellings will be sent out every other week for a test on the following Friday. On alternate weeks a times table will be sent home to be learned for a test the following Friday. The knowledge of times tables needs to be improved in the class and should be learned and not worked out every time a question is asked. Pleased help by testing your child on the tables whenever you can.
