Oak Class 11/01/2022

It was lovely to welcome everyone back last week.

We have two new member of Oak class, who have settled well into the Great Smeaton family.

This half term, we are continuing with a Geography based topic : Misty Mountain, Ragin River. This will build on the children’s knowledge of water, we will learn about the formation of rivers and their journey to the sea. The children will also learn about the different types of mountains and how they are formed.

In English, we have begun learning about newspaper reports. The children will be learning about the features, and writing their own linked to our class novel – the Wind in the Willows.

In Maths, we will continue to follow the white rose scheme of learning.

Most year groups will be learning how to multiply and divide using formal written methods.

Year 5 will begin by learning about perimeter and area.

Year 6 will be continuing learning about fractions.

This half term, there will be an after-school club run on Tuesday evenings for Year 6 children. This is a booster session to help to prepare them for the SATs.
