News from the Head Teacher – 6/11/19

Sadly, I need to inform you that last night the school was broken into. The police were called and all relevant actions were taken.

A large rock was thrown through the front door with such force that both the front and the inner doors were badly damaged. An item was taken from the office and this morning the Crime Scene Investigator arrived to do all the necessary work.

We have also had the glass company out to do all the necessary arrangements for replacing the glass.

Mr Goodchild was alerted initially and both he and Julian, the pub landlord, came to school. Mr and Mrs Beauchamp arrived as well to help.

A huge thank you to Julian for his amazing help in sweeping and cleaning with us. A huge thank you to Mr Beauchamp for going to his work place and sorting out effective materials for securing the school.

Mr Goodchild and Mrs Beauchamp worked hard coordinating everything as well as cleaning up.

Thank you so much for all the support we received through the night.

The school has also received a number of offers of help from nearby Head Teachers and members of the community. Many of you as parents have contacted us to offer help during today. We really appreciate it and feel proud of the community of we have here where help is so readily given.

I even received an e mail from a member of the wider community in Welbury with no contact with the school who said;

we are really outraged that somebody could do this. If there is anything at all that we can do to help you recover from this please don’t hesitate to contact us. If I can give my time to help in anyway please don’t hesitate to ask. I am happy to clean, answer telephones, or anything else you may need an extra pair of hands for. We live in Welbury so although we are not part of the school community we would like you to know that the wider community is thinking about you & the children.

Thank you once again. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the office.
