News from the Head Teacher – 3/11/2020

Hello and welcome back to another half term that will be defined by its difference. It is becoming harder and harder to remember what normal looked like. Our new normal at school, is set to change yet again in the weeks ahead.

Thank you, however, to everyone who contributed to our Harvest Festival by donating to the Food Bank. This year more than ever, your contributions have been vital. Thank you for your selflessness.

Miss Day officially starts her maternity leave at the end of this week. We wish her well and hope she enjoys life as a new mummy.

Following the Prime Minister’s statement at the weekend, we have been looking at the implications and what it means for us as a school. We have reviewed last half term and considered all our safeguarding processes to ensure they continue to remain fit for purpose for everyone.

We are lucky to be so small in such challenging times. I have watched, for instance, much larger schools struggling with parents picking their children up and maintaining social distancing. Thank you for continuing to keep your distance when dropping off and picking up your children. If you could also continue to drop your child off at the end of the path and then leave the site straight away, it will support all our efforts too.

We were hoping, in the lead up to Christmas that there might have been some easing of restrictions but as this is not to be, we have adjusted our plans accordingly.

We are aware that, should any member of our school community contract COVID, we will need to close the school.

By the end of the week we will have sent out a parent pack in preparation for any future closure as a consequence of a child or member of staff testing positive to COVID.

It will include a basic flow chart of how we will continue to respond to any testing that any household will be involved with, alongside a detailed breakdown of the Home Learning structure should a closure need to happen.

As a reminder, we are operating the school as one bubble. This enables us to continue providing Breakfast and After School Clubs alongside all the learning interventions across the school.

We will put the details on the website as well as providing a hard copy of the documents to all families.
