News from the Head Teacher – 13/7/2020
Well, I am not sure how we got to this point in the school year… but here we are. Thank you so much for all that you have done to support the school this year. My unprecedented illness and COVID has made it very strange indeed. I can only imagine how it has all been for you and your families. Your time and efforts in home schooling have been appreciated in school and as most of the children have now come back, we have enjoyed hearing about their rich and varied experiences.
This week we will continue to have some enjoyable days. The Birthday day was set up to recognise that most of the children did not get the opportunity to be in school for their birthday this year, so we are having a collective one together !
Just in case you haven’t had enough time with your children this year, the discerning among you will realise that the summer holiday is seven weeks. The dates were set nearly 18 months ago. We have not added any as we always need to make sure we do the statutory number of days sets by government. It all evens out in the end across all schools and Local Authorities.
This is also a sad time of the year as we say goodbye to our Year 6 children. They are ready to move on and we hope they will be excited by the challenges ahead. Children are going to Northallerton, St Francis Xavier and Conyers School this year. We wish them well and look forward to hearing how they are progressing.
We say goodbye to Ms Lowery as well. We wish her a long and happy retirement.
Our celebration assembly is at 1pm on Friday afternoon. It will take place outside so, fingers crossed it will be bright and sunny. We finish at 2.30 and children return to school on Tuesday 8th September at 9am. School times will revert back to normal in September when we look forward to welcoming everyone back.
