News From The Head Teacher 06/05/2022
Dear Parents and Carers
Following on from the letter sent by the Chair of Great Smeaton last Friday, I wanted to personally write to you.
As you know, I have been asked by the Governing Body to provide leadership support for the school which began at the start of the term. I must say how wonderful it has been getting to know the children, staff and school. Your children are a real credit to you: they have been extremely welcoming, very respectful and have shown care and kindness.
To give you some brief background information, I am currently Headteacher at Hurworth Primary School and have been in post since September 2014. I am passionate about education and want the very best for the children in my care. My mantra to the children is ‘’to be the best version of themselves’’. Children at Hurworth love school; they are happy and work incredibly hard.
At Hurworth, we are a family and I can see already that Great Smeaton shares this value. In the weeks running up to the summer I hope to get to know you all and vice versa. In the meantime, if you would like to know a little more about Hurworth Primary school and its values, please take a look at our:
My aim is to share my time between Hurworth and Great Smeaton and to split this into mornings and afternoons, so you will see me ‘meeting and greeting’ either in the morning or at home-time. At Hurworth, we operate an ‘open door’ policy and that is my intention for Great Smeaton. I will need to plan how this will work but if you do need to speak to me urgently then please don’t hesitate to contact the office on firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 01609 881349 to make an appointment and I will meet with you as soon as I can.
Thank you for your time. I hope you have a wonderful weekend and I look forward to meeting you all in due course.
