Class 2 – 7/1/2020

A happy new year to everyone.

We are starting a new topic, “Urban Pioneers”.

This is an exciting topic with an arts viewpoint and a human geography viewpoint.

The children will be learning about how people live in villages, towns and cities. They will compare the different environments and find benefits and problems which the inhabitants encounter. They will discover the types of “urban art” popular at the current time.

In English the children will be writing observational statements based on a work of art, a winter landscape with people called, “Hunters in the Snow” by Pieter Bruegel. The children will be learning about spelling rules for plurals and using comparative adverbs in descriptions.

This is a review week for maths, ordering numbers and using column addition.

There is a big emphasis on learning their times tables, so that they can be successful in quick fire questions and solving word problems. (2,5,10, 3,4,6 and 8).
