Class 1 – 3/2/2020
This week in Class One we are going to be looking at and sorting non-fiction books from fiction books. We will be looking at the features and discussing their differences. We will be learning all about the humpback whale as part of our ‘under the sea’ topic. In Phonics the Reception children will be learning the new sounds, ai, ee, ie, and oo this week. The Year 1 children will be learning the sounds, ou, ow, au and aw. Thank you all for reading with your children at home it is really helping in school. In Maths, we are going to be looking at fractions this week. We will be recognising and finding 1/2 , ¼ of shapes, quantities and numbers.
The Year 2 children will be looking at SATs papers this week, we will be concentrating on how to answer the comprehension-based questions with a big focus on the inference-based questions. We will also be focusing on missing number questions as part of our Maths SATs practise.
Star of the week in Class One last week was Bella. Bella got her star of the week certificate for her fantastic work in being able to read and write the time.
We also had a star award in Class One last week. The star award went to Imogen. Imogen has been doing some fantastic reading in her phonic sessions and during her 1:1 reading with a teacher. We are all so impressed with Imogen’s reading so well-done Imogen!
